My dog always acts hungry. Am I underfeeding them?
Acting hungry and being hungry are different things. Our Cleo would finish her bowl, start on Merc's, then stand by the cupboard looking at us like we'd skipped a step. She has never once been underfed. Some dogs, and Labradors, Beagles and Pugs are the usual suspects, will behave like every meal is their last no matter what's in the bowl.
So don't let the performance set the portion. Do the hands-on check instead. If you can feel ribs easily under a thin layer and see a waist behind the ribs from above, your dog is getting enough, regardless of the look they're giving you.
A few things do help genuinely food-focused dogs settle. Splitting the daily total across two or three meals rather than one. A slow feeder bowl or a puzzle feeder, which turns a 90 second meal into a ten minute activity. And a food with decent protein and fibre, since bulk and staying power matter as much as volume. Happy Hour's grass-fed lamb recipe runs 31% protein with 5% fibre, including added insoluble fibre, and many owners find their dog seems less frantic between meals on it.
If your dog's appetite has genuinely changed, rather than always being like this, that's worth mentioning to your vet.
